Yes, we do! We can take you on a hike twice a week. The destination changes. It depends on the group’s ability and the weather.

You have a view of the Carnic Alps directly from the building. Behind us you can see our local mountain, the Jauke Alpine meadow, one of the most beautiful summits in the Gailtal Alps. And the Lienz Dolomites are only a stone's throw away.

Some hikes can be started directly from our building. Some others, you need to drive to. You have the most flexibility with your private car. You can reach some starting points with the regional bus, which you can use free-of-charge with the Basic guest card. On the guided hikes, we form car pools with you.

Of course! Isn’t it great when nature turns into a playground?
Family hikes in the valley or up high. Take the mountain lift and discover a themed route. We also know routes that are easily accessible with prams. 😊

The valley is largely untouched. And you can still reach the top by cable car. The next mountain lift is a 20-minute drive away.

Yes! This is the best combination of all. The ideal option is a daberer.timeout after completing the Carnic mountain trail. You can also park your car with us before setting off. Need help planning?

You can enter the room from 3pm. Checkout is until 11am on the day of departure. These times mark the start and end of the spa use and meals. If you arrive after 8:00 pm, we will prepare a slow food snack for you instead of the evening meal. Please let us know well in advance.

The overnight stay price includes the delicious breakfast, the fresh afternoon lunch and the delightful evening meal (starting with the evening meal on the day of arrival and ending with breakfast on the day of departure), as well as use of the Hikes, yoga and exercises classes are also available. The daberer =  digital detox. The rooms, the restaurant, the terrace and the whole spa area do not have WLAN. Free WLAN is always available in the hof.garten area (public area).

If you have brought work with you, we recommend this area or you can use your laptop with the LAN connection in your room. You can get LAN cables and adapters (USB/USB-C) at the reception. Note: the LAN connection doesn't work with tablets or smartphones.

You can also arrive conveniently without a car. You can come by train, night train or plane. The nearest railway station is Oberdrauburg. From there, take a bus or taxi (book in advance!) to Kötschach-Mauthen. The nearest airport is Klagenfurt. You can find all the information here.

Yes, of course! They are very welcome. We are not a designated children’s or family hotel. We are a multi-generational hotel. Young and old go well together and brighten up our day. As we have children of our own, we are in favour of holidays with children instead of away from them. Here, you can find everything you need to know about family holidays.

We work with a flexible pricing system. The earlier you book, the lower the room price. The price will increase slightly, depending on how busy we are.  If your travel times are flexible, we recommend the lower cost months of January, March and November.

Yes. Rucksacks, hiking poles, yoga mats, prams, bicycles, cross-country gear and sledges are available free-of-charge. We rent out snow shoes for a fee. Please bring your own equipment for children.

Yes. Our e-mobility fleet is ready. At fair prices. And if you arrive by train, you get 50% discount. We have e-cars, e-scooters and e-trekking bikes. E-mountain bikes are not available.

There is a car park with enough parking spaces very close to the building. There is no covered car park/underground garage. The car park also has two charging stations for your e-car.

If something comes up, let us know as soon as possible.

Cancellation policy for all bookings arriving by 24.11.2024

  • Free cancellation is possible up to 1 month before arrival.
  • From 1 month before arrival, late arrivals and early departures will be subject to 100% of the total agreed price.

Cancellation policy for all bookings arriving from 26.12.2024 to 5.01.2025

  • Free cancellation is possible up to 2 months before arrival.
  • From 2 month before arrival, late arrivals and early departures will be subject to 100% of the total agreed price.

Cancellations are inconvenient. We recommend that you take out travel insurance to avoid cancellation costs. Ideally, you can take this out at the time of booking. Then, if something should come up, everyone can be at ease because they are covered. Note that we only accept written cancellations, and that they only become binding following our written confirmation. Unless other conditions are defined here, the conditions of the Austrian hotel regulations apply.

In the event of cancellations, we strive to find a solution for you. However, please understand that, in the spirit of fairness, we cannot offer free rebooking or cancellations at short notice for guests without cancellation insurance.

Yes. We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance at the time of booking to avoid cancellation costs. Doing this at a later date will be subject to a 14-day waiting period until the insurance becomes effective. We cannot offer goodwill solutions for late cancellations. You can find the travel cancellation insurance policy in your booking confirmation. We can take this out for you and settle the premium in advance. Your dog can enjoy some parts of your holiday with you, following our written confirmation. Out of consideration for our other guests, we only host a limited number of dogs at the same time. A maximum of 1 dog per room is allowed. If you would like to bring your dog, please use our request option (cannot currently be booked online) and enter your dog there. It is not possible to book your dog at a later date.


We charge EUR 27 per dog, per night (excluding food; 2024 price). Please note that dogs are not allowed in the restaurant with bar and terrace. Likewise, the and adjacent garden and the herb garden are dog-free areas. Each dog that arrives without having been booked IN ADVANCE will be charged EUR 59 per night (excluding food).

Our hotel is a smoke-free area. This applies for the entire hotel, including all balconies and terraces. It’s possible to smoke in front of the main entrance. Please use the designated area!

We take the following nutritional requirements into consideration free-of-charge when booked in advance:

  • Vegan diet
  • Lactose-free diet
  • Low-gluten diet*
  • Intolerances and allergies to max. 3-5 foods (depending on type and frequency of food)
  • The 14 allergens are marked everywhere for your information and responsibility.

Please inform us of any allergies and intolerances as soon as possible. We will then discuss the options with you. We charge a surcharge for any personalised menus. As we never store any health-related data, please provide us with your wishes at the time of booking.

In case of intolerances of more than 3 ingredients (except for onions, leek, celery, salt, sugar) please send us a list in advance of food that is suitable for you. Our head chef Florian or our sous-chef Stefanie will discuss your dietary requirements´ with you when you are here.

We are self-sufficient in water. We get all our water from our mineral spring. There is spring water everywhere. ♥ In our restaurant, spring water (sparkling or still) is served by our restaurant team and charged. The proceeds are donated to worldwide drinking water projects from UNICEF. Spring water and tea are also available free-of-charge in all spa areas during the opening times

In the mornings, you start your day at the top At noon, you can enjoy a fresh salad served in a glass. There are also homemade rolls with sandwich spreads and vegan soup. In the evenings, you have the choice. Vegetarian, meat or fish. Take a seat. We will serve you the whole evening menu.

No problem at all. Vegans are very welcome. Please specify this in the booking. So that we are well-prepared.

They can choose. Either something from the same menu as the adults or, if they can’t find anything there that they like (which can happen 😉), then something from the children’s menu. There is also a children’s menu at lunchtime (lunchtime menu charged extra). Or the children can eat the large salad, soup and rolls.

Unfortunately - no. Bathrobes should not be worn in the restaurant, bar or terrace.

The spring.pool is open from 07:30 am to77:30 pm. The sauna area and all quiet rooms are open from 08:00 am to 7:30 pm. The forest.sauna is open from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In the mornings, we reserve the forest.sauna for families with children only. In the evenings, you can reserve the forest.sauna exclusively for the two of you. Further details here.

Book your preferred treatments from home in advance. This will make it easier for us to plan your appointment.

On your day of departure, your room is available until 11:00 am. If there is enough availability, you can stay until 4:00 pm. There is a day cloakroom for this purpose. Ask at the reception for the late check out spa. (EUR 19 per person, 2024 prices)

For your laptop, there is a room with a LAN connection. You can get LAN cables at the reception. (Note! It doesn’t work with tablets or smartphones). We have not installed WLAN. Daberer = digital detox. A publicly accessible WLAN network is available in the hof.garten area.

No. None of it. The best air is provided by nature. The nights are even comfortable during the height of summer. There is no mini bar in the room. If you have medication that needs to be in the fridge please contact our reception desk.
