Mountains of opportunities. In the green season; in the white season. Everywhere!

There, where tourism is quiet and leisurely. In Austria. In Carinthia. In the most delicious part of it. In the world’s first Slow Food Travel Region. There it is - the daberer. A place that is home to all of us. And when you arrive, you feel at home right away. A starting point for discovering a lot of interesting things. Indoors. Outdoors. All year round.

Winter in the countryside is quiet. Glistening snowflakes. Warming sun rays. Fresh air. Woolly hat on. Let’s go! Off on an adventure!

Being active, right in the heart of peaceful nature. Winter can be so diverse.

Where do we start? Skiing in Carinthia’s largest ski resort - Nassfeld. Ice skating on Lake Weissen with the most beautiful backdrop. Or making tracks while cross-country skiing. And for something different, there is also tobogganing, winter hiking and ski tours.

Winter holidays are not only about skiing and spas.

A winter holiday is a mindful holiday. Time to take for yourself. Time to finally spent together and enjoy. Time for mindfully doing nothing. Lounging by the fireplace. With a good book or even two. In deep conversation. While doing yoga. While playing. While drawing. Going slowly. In a leisurely stroll through the white landscape. And very important: taking the time to sit in the sun. Woollen blanket and aromatic coffee included.

Movement can be diverse. Gentle. Peaceful. Challenging.

By foot. By bike. At the bottom of the valley. In the forest. Or right at the top. We can think of many activities. For the sunshine and for cloudy days. This region is peaceful. Nature puts on a show. And what a show it is! We could come up with a few ideas there.

Being outdoors. How to spend the time? It's up to you.
Hut on an alpine meadow surrounded by peaks

Hiking up high.

It’s not necessary to climb up the mountain. The valley also has paths to many stunning viewing spots. But, for a far-reaching view, we recommend the next summit. Or the clear mountain lake. In the summer months you can take a break in one of the alpine huts and enjoy a board with typical hearty snacks.

Just put your feet on the pedals and off you go!

Comfortably cycling kilometre by kilometre. Choose the distance you want. The R3 bike trail is 50 kilometres long without much incline and leads along the Gail river. Mountain bikers want to go higher. There are also beautiful trails there. You can hire bikes (city bikes) from us free-of-charge. E-bikes (trekking bikes; no e-mountain bikes) against a small fee.

Running & Nordic walking

Keep it simple. You just need your running shoes and for Nordic walking two poles! We also have poles. For hire. The trails start directly at the hotel.

Golf course from above surrounded by mountains

Tee off into golfing fun.

Extensive meadows. Lush greenery. A flat yet challenging course. A beautiful 18-hole game. There is a driving range incl. 6-hole practice facility for honing your golf swing. Only a quarter of an hour from the daberer. You can get discounted green fees through us. On top of that there are tips from the bosses. Willi Daberer as well as Marianne and her children are passionate golfers themselves and can be found on the course from time to time.

Horses in the pasture in front of a mountain scenery

On horseback

The horse paddock is just a short walk away. The horse meadow is the starting point for every ride. The horse farm is even closer to the hotel. The ponies live there. For riding hours and other details, just ask us. Also for carriage riding.

Indoor and outdoor rock faces

It’s a real paradise here. There are many climbing tours on the rugged rock faces of the Carnic Alps. Do you need support and someone to accompany you? We can organise it. And for training, we recommend the KleSch. The most modern climbing centre in Austria. A 5-minute walk from the daberer. For climbing (indoor and outdoor) and bouldering.

More activities for more fun

The region offers even more. Rafting and canyoning. The mountaineering village of Mauthen with climbing tower, forest pool and archery is just 5 kilometres from the hotel. We can also recommend a trip to the highest bathing lake in Europe, Lake Weißen, as well as a trip to the nearby Lake Pressegger.

Wonderful rain! I’m happy!

When on holiday, every day is a good day. There’s no need for sunshine and blue skies. We love rainy days. And, as a guest here at the daberer, you will loverainy days too. Finally doing what we should all be doing more often. And that's nothing at all. Find your favourite spots in the building. Dance in the rain. We love it!

When it’s stormy and snowing. We really love it!

Oh! We have an abundance of ideas. The weather isn’t a reason to mope around. On the contrary! Finally time to read an exciting, inspirational or bitter-sweet book. Take a day for wellness and sleeping. Or even two or three. Get cosy in the spa. Sauna. Tranquillity. And enjoy our culinary delights. In the morning. At noon. In the evening. And also in between.

And who says that we can’t go outside? A stroll in the rain with your umbrella is something unique. And we have a few more ideas. Learn more about the valley in Geopark Dellach. Visit the local climbing centre. Visit the delicacy shop. Travel to Lienz for a shopping spree. Check out the small shops in Kötschach. And we can think of even more.
